Every home has rules.
Some are written.
Some are unwritten.
Some are spoken often enough that everyone eventually memorizes them.
At Casa Signora, we believe rules should do more than prevent problems.
Good rules help children become thoughtful, responsible, confident, and kind human beings.
Our goal is not to create a long list of restrictions.
Our goal is to create a culture.
A place where children understand what is expected of them and where those expectations help them grow.
These are the rules of Casa Signora.
They are simple.
But they matter.
This is the foundation for everything else.
At Casa Signora, we treat:
Adults with respect
Children with respect
Guests with respect
Ourselves with respect
Respect includes:
Listening when others speak
Using good manners
Speaking kindly
Being considerate
Respecting personal space
You do not have to agree with everyone.
But you do have to treat people respectfully.
Kindness and niceness are not always the same thing.
Being kind means:
Helping others
Including people
Showing empathy
Being thoughtful
Doing the right thing even when it isn't easy
Kindness is one of the most important qualities a person can develop.
We practice it every day.
If you take something out, put it away.
If you make a mess, clean it up.
If you spill something, help fix it.
This rule applies to:
Toys
Books
Art supplies
Snacks
Games
Shared spaces
Nobody is expected to be perfect.
Everyone is expected to be responsible.
Mistakes happen.
Everyone makes them.
At Casa Signora, being honest is always better than trying to avoid responsibility.
Honesty builds trust.
Trust is difficult to earn and easy to lose.
We would much rather hear the truth than a perfect excuse.
Blaming other people rarely solves problems.
When something goes wrong, we encourage children to ask:
"What can I do to make this better?"
Responsibility means:
Owning mistakes
Learning from them
Making things right
Moving forward
This is an important life skill.
Reading matters at Casa Signora.
Books help us:
Learn
Imagine
Think
Explore
Grow
Not every child will love every book.
That's okay.
The goal is to stay curious.
Readers become thinkers.
And thinkers can do amazing things.
Darlene and Hansel are important members of the Casa Signora family.
They are not toys.
They are not props.
They are living creatures deserving of kindness and respect.
Children are expected to:
Be gentle
Respect boundaries
Follow instructions
Treat animals thoughtfully
Learning kindness toward animals helps children develop empathy toward people as well.
Children are capable of more than they often realize.
Sometimes things feel difficult.
Sometimes things feel unfamiliar.
Sometimes things take practice.
Before saying:
"I can't."
We encourage children to ask:
"Can I try?"
Growth often begins with effort.
At Casa Signora, we believe children benefit from:
Reading
Playing
Creating
Exploring
Thinking
Talking
Technology has its place.
But it should not replace childhood.
Some of the best adventures begin when children put down a screen and pick up an idea.
This may be the most important rule of all.
Leave a room better than you found it.
Leave a friendship better than you found it.
Leave a conversation better than you found it.
Leave your community better than you found it.
Leave the world a little better than you found it.
This rule applies to almost everything in life.
Boredom is not an emergency.
In fact, boredom is often where creativity begins.
Some of the best ideas come from moments when children have the freedom to think, imagine, and create.
At Casa Signora, boredom is not something we immediately fix.
It's often something we learn from.
This rule surprises some children.
Even though Casa Signora is our home, we try to remember something important:
We are all sharing this space together.
That means:
Respecting belongings
Respecting spaces
Respecting each other
A shared environment works best when everyone contributes.
Curiosity is encouraged.
Questions are welcome.
Learning happens when people are willing to ask:
Why?
How?
What if?
Can you teach me?
Children should never feel embarrassed for wanting to learn.
Yes, this is a rule.
Childhood should include:
Laughter
Imagination
Adventure
Friendship
Exploration
Learning responsibility and good habits is important.
So is enjoying childhood.
The goal is balance.
If you look closely, these rules are not really about books, toys, dogs, chores, or snacks.
They are about character.
Every rule points toward something bigger:
Respect
Responsibility
Kindness
Curiosity
Accountability
Empathy
Those qualities matter long after childhood ends.
Casa Signora is not trying to raise perfect children.
Perfect children do not exist.
What we hope to help develop are children who are thoughtful, respectful, curious, responsible, and kind.
Children who understand that their actions matter.
Children who contribute to the world around them.
Children who leave things better than they found them.
If we can help accomplish that, then Casa Signora is doing exactly what it was meant to do.
